Welcome to St. Peters Development Society (SPDS)

Who We Are

We are a humanitarian organization committed to promoting the socio-economic development of disadvantaged communities, including Dalits, Tribals, economically backward groups, women, youth, children, persons with disabilities (PWDs), people living with HIV (PLHIV), and individuals affected by leprosy (PALs). Our doors are open to everyone, regardless of caste, gender, religion, ethnicity, or color.

Promote Equity and Inclusion

Our goal at St. Peters Development Society (SPDS) is to build an inclusive and equitable society where every individual, regardless of their background, has the opportunity to lead a life of dignity, security, and prosperity. We aim to break the cycles of poverty and social exclusion by fostering sustainable development, empowering marginalized communities, and addressing critical issues such as education, health, livelihood, and social justice. Through innovative, community-driven initiatives, we strive to create lasting change and inspire hope for a brighter future for all.

At St. Peters Development Society (SPDS),

We focus on delivering impactful programs that address the pressing needs of marginalized communities. Our work spans across critical areas, including water, health, education, livelihoods, care for vulnerable populations, environmental sustainability, and more.

Water and Sanitation

Access to clean drinking water is a fundamental right, and SPDS has prioritized ensuring this for rural communities. We have successfully installed over 205 bore wells equipped with hand pumps, bringing safe drinking water to thousands of families. Additionally, we conduct hygiene and sanitation awareness campaigns to promote healthier living environments.

Health and Wellness

Healthcare is a cornerstone of our mission. Through medical and health camps, we provide essential healthcare services in remote areas. Special focus is given to individuals living with HIV (PLHIV), those affected by leprosy (PALs), and persons with disabilities (PWDs). The distribution of 400 wheelchairs has significantly improved the mobility and independence of differently-abled individuals, while nutritional support programs address critical health challenges.

Education and Skill Development

Education is a powerful tool for change, and SPDS is dedicated to eliminating illiteracy and equipping individuals with skills for a better future. We have conducted adult literacy programs, reaching over 1,350 laborers across 45 villages. Vocational training in computer education and tailoring has provided hundreds of youth and women with the tools to secure sustainable livelihoods.

Livelihood and Farming Support

To empower small and marginalized farmers, we promote organic and non-pesticide farming techniques that enhance productivity while protecting the environment. Our programs also provide skill-based training for youth and women, enabling them to achieve financial independence and stability.

Shelter and Care for Vulnerable Populations

SPDS operates a shelter home in Phanigiri village, offering food, clothing, and care for 60 orphans and elderly individuals. This initiative provides a safe and nurturing environment for those who have been abandoned or lack family support. During emergencies, we also extend relief to hundreds of families, distributing dry rations and essentials.

Child Rights and Welfare

Children are at the heart of our mission. SPDS actively works to eradicate child labor and promote the welfare and rights of children. Through our programs, we ensure access to education and a safe environment where children can thrive.
